School Numeracy Intervention Program

A hands-on maths program using the Japanese abacus (soroban) method to strengthen number sense, place value, and mental calculation skills.

Designed for small-group pull-out intervention sessions for Year 1 to Year 2 students.

The program is designed for students who would benefit from additional support in:

  • number recognition and sequencing

  • place value understanding

  • addition and subtraction strategies

  • mental calculation confidence

  • focus and concentration skills

Sessions are delivered during school hours in small pull-out groups of 4–6 students, allowing targeted support and individual attention.

This approach helps children build confidence with numbers through concrete learning before moving into abstract mathematical thinking.
